Cleansing the Temple

One of the most controvercial aspects of the ministry of Jesus was his attempt to cleanse to temple of activities which he said were not in accordance with the spiritual worship of God. Here he found that people were using the Divine Space for carrying on human trade, and he threw over the desks of the money changers, and released the birds that were being sold to pilgrims. In this role of cleansing the temple Jesus unfolds his radical mission of being a prophet, one who is Jealous for the Glory of God, and wants to purify human institutions of greed.
